NIV:  the chief men refrained from speaking and covered their mouths with their hands;
NAS:  "The princes stopped talking And put their hands on their mouths;
KJV:  The princes refrained talking, and laid their hand on their mouth.
GWT:  Princes held back [their] words and put their hands over their mouths.
ASV:  The princes refrained from talking, And laid their hand on their mouth;
