NIV:  Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task.
NAS:  It is a trustworthy statement: if any man aspires to the office of overseer, it is a fine work he desires to do.
KJV:  This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
GWT:  This is a statement that can be trusted: If anyone sets his heart on being a bishop, he desires something excellent.
ASV:  Faithful is the saying, If a man seeketh the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
BBE:  This is a true saying, A man desiring the position of a Bishop has a desire for a good work.
DBY:  The word is faithful: if any one aspires to exercise oversight, he desires a good work.
DRB:  A faithful saying: if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
